For the 2016/17 hockey season we are introducing extra training slots and adjusting training times to meet increasing demand from the club’s growing membership. ELHC have appointed a new Men’s 1st XI coach, Asif Rais, who has already introduced new preseason fitness training and will be looking to drive the squad forward in to next season.
The 2016/17 training times will be as follows:
- Ladies 1/2s Thursdays 8-9.30pm @ Lee Valley
- Ladies 3/4/5s Mondays 8.30-10pm @ Mile End
- Ladies 6/7/8s Tuesdays 7-8.30pm @ Mile End
- Men’s 1/2s Tuesdays 7-8.30pm @ Lee Valley
- Men’s 3/4/5s Mondays 7-8.30pm @ Mile End
- Men’s 6/7/8s Tuesdays 8.30-10pm @ Mile End
- Goalkeepers to rotate between trainings
Mile End training will start the week commencing 1st August.
Ladies Lee Valley training will start on the 4th Aug at 8:30pm-10pm and then 8pm-9:30pm thereafter. Men's Lee Valley training will start of the 16th August.
Chairman Daniel Goodacre said, “As the club consultation in April highlighted, there's a strong desire from members to have more training with even better coaching. So we've added an additional two training slots and more coaches supporting the sessions”.
Andy Moncur, Head Coach at East London, also commented, “We are dedicated to continually providing a high standard of coaching across the club. We have listened to the recent feedback from the players and we are adapting and developing the training to accommodate that.”
The additional training slots are being funded from last year's budget surplus. At the end of the season we will review costs and sustainability to ensure that we continue to offer great value membership as well as training and coaching that caters for all levels.
Anyone who's interested in starting coaching, or has coached before and would like to get back into it, please contact Andy Moncur.
