East London Hockey Club are delighted to announce that Asif Rais is the new head coach of the Men's 1st XI.
Asif comes from a coaching pedigree where he most recently coached Ipswich Ladies 1st XI and before this Cambridge University Women’s Hockey team where he successfully let them to Divisional promotion and also Varsity winners in 2015. He has also coached Wapping Men’s 1st XI and various county and university sides.
Asif’s playing history has seen him play National League hockey with Old Loughtonians and Ipswich Hockey Clubs. More recently, he has been seen representing Essex and East at Masters level.
As a coach he will be hoping to build upon the good work of Andy Moncur over the last few years and take the side on to compete at the highest possible level.
We take great pleasure in welcoming him to the club and look forward to a great season at East London.
Club Chairman Daniel Goodacre added, "We are delighted that Asif has committed to join ELHC as coach for our Men's 1s. He is an ideal person to build on the foundations that Andy Moncur has put in place and position us as one of the top performance clubs in the locality."
Andy Moncur, Head Coach at East London, also commented, "Appointing Asif supports our aim of increasing coaching standards and support at all levels of the club, both in training sessions and on match days. I'm really looking forward to working with him and our other coaches to continue to deliver victories and success at East London in the coming season."
