Hi ELHCers,
In my first Chairman’s Chat of the 17/18 season, I’d like to welcome on board all of our new and returning committee members. The engine-room of the club, these hockey heroes work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that your matches, training, tours and socials happen. If you see one of them in The Castle, be sure to buy them a drink – they deserve it.
I’d also like to take the opportunity to reflect back on the successful 16/17 season. It’s easy for the all the amazing achievements to get lost, so allow me to list a few:
> Seeing eight East London league teams promoted, including seven as champions
> Launching the Tower league, Hockey Hangout, disability hockey and masters hockey
> Welcoming over 150 new members to the club
> Hosting the 25th anniversary tournament and turning it into an annual event
> Achieving the highest ever attendance at the Christmas party and End of Season dinner
> Providing 725 hours of umpiring and 900 hours of coaching via club volunteers
