Chairman's Chat 9
Posted by Daniel Goodacre on 27 January 2017
Hi ELHCers,
As a large and growing club, our captains and coaches often have to make difficult selections decisions. This is never easy for them, however it needs to be consistent and fair for all players in the club. So that everyone knows the process, I've shared the key points below.
Selection decisions will be based on three core criteria:
1. Playing ability
i. Winning mentality
ii. Speed / agility
iii. Comfort on the ball
iv. Hit / accuracy
2. Attendance & commitment
i. Matches
ii. Training
3. Club situation
i. Needs of current team
ii. Needs of other teams
For any selection decisions, you should expect the explanation to be based on these criteria.
If you have any concerns over selections, the first point of contact is your team captain. If you do not feel comfortable with this or wish to discuss further, you can speak with your coach or appropriate Deputy Club Captain - Dan Collis for men's and Katie Henry for women's. As a final point of escalation if you believe the correct process has not been followed, you should raise to the appropriate Club Captain - Steve Canwell for men's and Sarah Watts for women's.
Full details will be available shortly on the website, via the Selections Charter.
