Saturday's Home Matches

Ladies 6s

With the first spot at Mile End, the L6s valiantly played on against Waltham Forest 4s in the face of cold and very wet conditions. 2-0 up at half-time they decided to up their intensity and stormed away winning the game 8-1.

Ladies 1s

Keen to hold on to their newly claimed top of the league spot, the L1s needed a 1-0 win over Blackheath 1s this Saturday. It was by no means an easy game but East battled through the poor weather and strong opposition to defense to achieve their goal and walk away with a 1-0 win. Mission accomplished.

Men’s 5s

The M5s needed a win against Harlow 1s and a win they got! They came out firing on all cylinders, showing their strong form and fitness early in the game. Not wanting to be out done by the L6s, they too achieved an impressive 8-1 victory.

Men’s 2s

The M2s cemented their position at the top of the league with another great performance against Clacton 1s at Lee Valley. They controlled the game from the off and didn’t even let the opposition get a sniff at a goal, eventually winning 7-0.

Men’s 7s

With dampened spirits that reflected the weather, the M7s went down 0-1 against Saffron Walden 6s. Despite their hard work and determination, the M7s weren’t able to fight their way back into the lead. Final score, 0-1 loss.

Ladies 3s

The L3s dominated in their game against County Wanderers but the score didn’t quite reflect the number of chances they had, going into half-time 0-1. With renewed energy, they came out fighting taking a 2-1 lead until the opposition managed to equal moments before the final whistle.

Men’s 8s

In a close game against Maldon Academy, the M8s showed their class and teamwork winning 3-2.

Ladies 5s

On a misty Mile End pitch the L5s held on to their top spot against a gutsy Witham 2s. They dominated in the first half scoring 3 impressive goals in quick succession. They opposition came back strong in the second half holding East of scoring any further goals. Final score, 3-0.

Saturday's Away Matches

Ladies 2s

The L2s maintained their place at the top of the league with a solid performance against Witham. Neither the bad weather or the lack of coach deterred them from winning 6-0 with lots of patient play and lovely triangles.

Ladies 4s

The L5s shared their success on Saturday decisively beating Maldon 2s. Goals were scored by a number of players and they pressed so well the opposition wasn’t sure what to do. They came away with an impressive 5-0 win.

Men’s 6s

The M6s had a fantastic result on Saturday against Southend 3s, despite some of the team missing the first half due to poor journey planning. The dominated from the beginning and came away with an impressive 7-0 making it well worth the long trip.

Men’s 1s

Unfortunately the M1s didn’t keep their cool against Bourne Deeping 1s, letting the game slip away from them in the final 10 minutes. Although they we leading 2-1, they let the opposition back in after a lapse in concentration leading to a disappointing 2-3 loss.

Men’s 4s

Not happy with their performance the M4s went all the way to Southend to lose 5-1 to a stronger side on the day. However, there was lots to work on that came out of the game which can never be a bad thing.

Men’s 3s

Although not the most clinical of performances, the M3s did well to win away against Brentwood 2 on Saturday. The multiple short corners didn’t go to plan but they didn’t let this get them down, even when the opposition equalised. They kept their heads up and scored the winning goal close to the final whistle. Final score, 2-1.

Ladies 7s

Although Wapping 8s scored an early goal whilst the L7s were still getting themselves sorted out (due to a lots new faces joining the team this week), they fought back hard and equalised soon after. The momentum with them, the L7s scored two further great goals and took a well-deserved 3-1 win against their local rivals.

Sunday 13th November 2016

East London Mixed 2s

In the first Mixed game of the day, East took on the Gamblers despite some players struggling to get the team to the venue on time. East took the lead in the first half 3-1, but they fell about a bit in the second and ended up losing the game 4-6. Onto the next match later that day!

East London Ravens

The Ravens are seeing clear improvements each week, even with players moving up and down and a range of availability. In their match against the Wapping Wonderers on Sunday they put into practise everything they have learnt over the last few months including teamwork and core stick skills. They halved their previous defeat to this more experienced side coming away with a valiant 0-8 loss.

East London Mixed 2 (Take two)

Even with reinforcements, the Mixed 2s weren’t able to overcome their fuzzy Sunday heads to beat a strong Wapping 1s side. They worked hard and sweated most of the booze out coming away with a close 1-4 loss.
