M6s vs Witham

Saturday’s Home Matches

Ladies 3s

Ready to go straight from the first whistle, the L3s were keen to secure some points this week against Wapping 5s. 1-0 up until the last few minutes of the first half, East let in a short corner putting the half-time score at 1-1. In the second half, the L3s battled against a fit opposition with lots of subs, equalising each of the opposition’s goals but unable to retake the lead. Final score, 3-3.

Ladies 6s

After a slow start, the L6s took control of their game against Southend 3s. 2-0 up at half-time meant they had earned Haribos and the team chat from their three coaches had them fired up for the second half. There was a noticeable improvement with passing, pressing and possession leading to a 5-0 victory!

Men’s 5s

Their new mantra “score early and score often” didn’t come into effect this week against Old Southendian 3s. Instead the M5s scored just enough goals to hold off the opposition without overexerting themselves. A 2-1 win is enough to retain their unbeaten title and top of the league spot.

Ladies 1s

Convincingly strong from the off, the L1s managed to dominate the play throughout their game against Ashford 1s. The had great passing and some impressive interceptions due to a strong press. The goals came from slick teamwork and well-earned opportunities. Final score, 4-0.

Men’s 8s

The M8s played a feisty Braintree Knights side on Saturday and proved that they weren’t about to lose their cool - even if the opposition were. They demonstrated a great work rate throughout the game and earned an impressive 7-2 win.

Ladies 5s

The L5s took on a depleted Harlow 2s team at Mile End on Saturday. Determined to play the fixture despite the opposition being over 15 minutes late and managing only 9 players, the L5s came out all guns blazing. The final score was an outstanding 12-0 victory for East - no wonder they didn’t want the 5-0 walkover score.

Men’s 2s

The M2s stuck to their impressive form again this week showing Upminster 2s that even though it’s nearly Christmas, they won’t be giving out any gifts this season. Final score 4-2.

Men’s 7s

In another feisty Mile End match, the M7s took on Redbridge & Ilford 3s at the graveyard slot. They immediately had control of the game and although they were slow at converting their chances, held on to a majority of the possession in both halves. In the second the opposition struggled to get the ball out of their own half with East pressing high and piling on the pressure. Final score, 5-0.

Saturday’s Away Matches

Ladies 2s

The L2s put Wapping 4s in their place on Saturday with a defiant win at Lee Valley. They were on top throughout and shared the goals amongst the team. Another fantastic 5-0 win and still top of the league/unbeaten.

Men’s 4s

The M4s had a tough game against Old Southendian 2 and settled in early for a patient game of hockey. Although the team initially had difficulty getting to the pitch on time… Their hockey was much better than their organisation. They pressed well and put the pressure on right from the off. They came away with a well-earned 1-1 draw.

Men’s 1s

The M1s took on Upminster 1s in a tense game on Saturday. Although they fought hard, the M1s were able to come away with the win, narrowly losing 1-2.

Men’s 3

The M3s were not happy with their performance against Witham 1s. They let in an early goal and the game went down hill from their. They failed to capitalise against a team with no subs and the match finished 3-5 to the oppo.

Ladies 7s

In an exciting game against Southend & Benfleet 3s, the L7s trekked out to Rochdale to take on the team above them in the league. It was a high scoring game with East scoring early, then the oppo equalising, then East going 3-1 into the lead. Both teams came out fighting after half-time but the opposition had the edge taking the scoreline back to 3-3. Seconds before the final whistle, the opposition scrambled a goal over the line. Final score 3-4 loss.

Ladies 4s

The L4s did well this weekend putting their training into practice against Chelmsford 5s. Although they felt the score could have been more convincing, they did some great runs and passing to secure a 4-2 win.

Men's 6s

The M6s were in control all the way through their game against Witham 4s, despite the 5pm pushback. Although their opening goal was disallowed, their D was rarely troubled by the Witham attackers. East dominated and came away with an impressive 5-0 win.

Sunday’s Matches

East London Men’s Masters

The Men’s Masters game was an exciting match up against Cheshunt away. Although East conceded early, this spurred them on to pick up their intensity and retaliated with two goals of their own. In the second half, the opposition equalised early and then went one up taking the score to 3-2. East weren’t on the back foot for long and finished full-time 3-3. Onto penalty flicks. Disappointingly East lost 2-3 on flicks but our keeper saved two of their shots so it was a great defensive effort there. All in all a great effort by everyone and a big thank you to all who played.

East London Mixed 2

East’s Mixed 2s joined up with Surbiton in these week’s match to even out the numbers. Lots of fun was had! The final score? Who knows? But there was a lot of East on East action.
