About the Club
East London Hockey Club was founded in 1990 by a group of hockey players brought together in the Metropolitan Police Force. Initially just a bunch of mates, due to a good social scene and location the club has gone from strength to strength over the past 20 years. We continue to grow, and hope to benefit in many ways from the Olympic Legacy in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Hackney.
The Club now has 9 sides competing in the East and Essex leagues, and with much success. In the 2011/12 season, to cope with increasing numbers, a 10th team was formed, the men's 6th team, playing just friendlies. For the 2012/13 season, the men's 6th team will be entered into the league, as will a new ladies 4th team, being formed to cope with increasing numbers.
In the 2010/11 season, 6 out of our 7 competitive sides all went up a division in their league. The highlight of the 2010/11 season was the Men’s 1st XI competing at the highest level the club has achieved in its short history: East Men's League Division 2S. If you are a seasoned player who’s just moved to East London then fill in a membership form straight away and get stuck in to our push up the tables.

However, there are opportunities for every level of member at the club. If you have never picked up a stick before, come along to training and join in and have some fun. You can find out about training here and fill in a membership application form here. The club continues to grow, and the more new faces at every level the better.

The club also does not underestimate the vast importance of youth hockey, not just for East London Hockey Club, but also for young people in the area that never have access to such a great sport. We agree with Sport Inspired that sport is a excellent way to inspire young people so we have established the first ever youth hockey club section in Tower Hamlets. We're also working with Sport Inspired to give a taste of hockey to many children in Hackney and the surrounding areas.

If you are interested in joining the youth section on Sunday mornings, then take a look at our youth page and fill out a membership application form stating your interest. Also, if you want to volunteer to help coach, organise, sponsor or oversee any of this work, then please email Dan Collis (youth@elhockey.co.uk). Any help is greatly appreciated and will make a lasting difference to hockey in the area.
