East London Mens 2s

Saturday’s Home Matches

Men’s 1s

Taking on City of Peterborough, the M1s were keen to show they had put last week’s result behind them. The game was mixed with strong passages of play and some weaker moments. They didn’t give up though and came out on top in the end, 3-0.

Men’s 3s

Short corner routines worked perfectly for the M3s putting them 2-0 into the lead and then they scored another goal before half-time giving them a comfortable 3-0 advantage. After doing so well, they decided to let the opposition back into the game for a bit but finished it off in the end. Final score: 4-2.

Ladies 2s

The L2s continue their unstoppable winning streak with a decisive win over Chelmsford 3s. After a lot of timing warming up, they were firing right from the off, putting pressure on the opposition’s defense and patiently waiting until the first goal came. Final score, 4-0, bring on next week and another strong performance!

Ladies 4s

In their best game of the season (so far) the L4s smashed it on Saturday againsts Colne. There was lots of slick passing and great triangles helping them get around the opposition keeper and into the goal plenty of times. Final score: 4-0.

Ladies 7s

The L7s faced a hard game against top of the league, Chelmsford 6s. It was a very feisty game and despite great motivation, East weren’t able to come away with a win. Final score, 0-4 loss.

East London Ravens

The Ravens continue to show impressive improvements each week, this time against the London Accies. Although the score was still quite one-sided (sadly not in East’s favour) they played much better than they had at their last meeting. Keep up the good work girls!

Men’s 6s

The M6 against Old Loughts Academy was a mysterious event. Unfortunately for East, fate wasn’t on our side and we didn’t come out on top… Better luck next time!

Saturday’s Away Matches

Ladies 3s

The L3s took on top of the league Colchester 3s with great enthusiasm and some nervousness. Although East was 0-1 down at half-time, the L3s came back in fighting fashion going 2-1 up before missing a penalty flick and defending about 10 short corners in the last 10 minutes of the game. Final score: 2-1 win.

Ladies 1s

In their first game of the weekend the L1s put their bodies on the line to defend their unbeaten, top of the league status against Basildon 1s. After a tight 0-0 first half, they upped their intensity earning a 1-0 lead. From that point on they defended hard and fast right up until the final whistle.

Men’s 7s

After taking the lead, the M7s had a frustrating game against Saffron Walden 5s. The opposition equalised soon after, leaving East in a tight battle to remain in control of the game. Final score, 1-1 draw.

Ladies 5s

Basildon 4s were no competition for East’s L5s this weekend who smashed it once again. 3-1 up at half time East wasn’t content and pushed on for an even more impressive 7-1 final score.

Ladies 6s

After scoring in the first minute of the game, the L6s were on top form to defend their top of the league unbeaten position against Brentwood 5s. They dominated the first half entirely scoring 4 goals and preventing the oppo from even entering East's D. The second half wasn’t as tight but they held on for strong a 4-0 win.

Men’s 5s

M5s took on top of the league Colchester 2s this week and stole the top spot with a tight 1-0 victory. Although the game got a bit ropey toward the last two minutes they held on to take the win.

Men’s 2s

The M2s took on Southend 1s this weekend in what should have been a more convincing win. They started well scoring twice in the first half but then their passing deteriorated. Southend scored 3 impressive drag flicks and East were back fighting to retake the lead. 2 goals close to the end of the game gave East a 4-3 lead which they finally managed to hold on to.

Sunday Ladies 1s Cup Match

In the second round of the cup, East L1s took on a strong Bishops Stortford 1s side. The level of hockey was very close throughout and there were moments when it was hard to pick out the stronger team. The opposition managed to secure the a 1-0 lead at half-time but East came out fighting with an equaliser from a short corner early in the second half. Somehow Bishops Stortford managed to swerve a flick that at first appeared to be going wide into the East London goal putting them 2-1 up. East did all they could to equalise but couldn’t quite get the ball across the line. A fantastic match and a huge well done to the team for making it this far.
