East London Ladies 3s

Saturday Home Matches

Ladies 5s

The L5s defeated local rivals, Wapping 6s, in a game that started out evenly matched. With four penalty flicks over the course of the game and a very feisty opposition coaching team on the sidelines, East did well to secure a 5-2 win over a well-drilled opposition.

Ladies 1s

The L1s dominated in their match against Redbridge & Ilford 1s, coming away with an impressive 6-1 win and taking them six points clear of third place. There were some great short corner routines, clinical flicks and exciting teams goals which all in all led to a fantastic game of hockey.

Men's 5s

Giving their goalkeeper a rest after a couple of weeks of tough matches, the M5s played some quality hockey on Saturday beating Brentwood 3s 5-0. The team took it in turns to storm the opposition’s D and show off their best goal scoring efforts. Although they weren’t as clinical as they would have liked, they still came out on top by a fair margin.

Men's 2s

The M2s were narrowly defeated by Saffron Walden 2s at the weekend. This was a disappointing result for the team who hadn’t lost a game yet this season. Final score 1-3 loss.

Ladies 3s

Expecting a tough match, the L3s stepped up their game to beat Harlow 1s in a narrow 1-0 victory. Although East had the majority of the possession and a lot of chances, Harlow were very strong on the break and the L3s did well to keep a clean sheet.

Men's 7s

After a tight first half, the M7s did well to come out 4-0 up at the final whistle against Old Loughtonians Academy. Starting the game with only 10 men, the team focused on pressing well and closing the ball down. In the second half, they reverted to their normal formation and exploited weaknesses in the opposition’s defense.

Saturday Away Matches

Ladies 7s

The L7s played against Waltham Forest 5s, even though the opposition had already conceded the game after failing to secure enough players. They still had a friendly match after lending a couple of East teammates. The friendly was a 2-1 for East but they walk away with a 5-0 result for the conceded game.

Men's 8s

The M8s faced a tricky opposition on Saturday and ended the first half 0-0 against Old Southendian 6s. With renewed efforts, they managed to score the winning goal in the second half and hold off the other team to secure a tense 1-0 victory.

Men's 3s

The M3s couldn’t keep up their form this week with a 3-3 draw against Upminster 2s after being 3-1 up. Although they had plenty of chances to score they couldn’t convert and were unable to maintain the high intensity necessary to win throughout the whole of the game.

Men's 1s

In a closely fought match, the M1s showed their strength beating Bishops Stortford 1s, 3-2. Their fitness was put to the test but not found wanting. They came out firing and showed the opposition that they meant business right from the off and putting in 100% right up until the final whistle.

Ladies 2s

The unbeaten L2s held onto their title against a tough Crostyx 2s side, managing a 0-0 draw on Saturday. With some exciting goal line saves, East defended well and although keeping the majority of possession in the the second half, couldn’t convert to take the victory.

Men's 6s

Although setting off to a shaky start with two disallowed goals, the M6s managed to show Redbridge & Ilford 3 that they weren’t giving up that easily. After repeated efforts, they finally scored the first goal of the game and then they keep them coming - final score 4-0 win.

Ladies 4s

The L4s had an evenly matched game against Old Loughtonians 4s with goals going back and forth between the two sides. Unfortunately East could hold on for the wins, narrowly drawing 2-2.

Men's 4s

The M4s weren’t happy with their performance against a strong Saffron Walden 3s side. In a game where they felt they could  have done better, East were unable to keep off the opposition’s repeated attacks losing 3-0.

East London Sparrows

East London Sparrows

Although they started the game at the opposition’s clubhouse rather than the pitches, the Sparrows had a lively and exciting match against Tulse Hill & Dulwich who had beaten them 14-0 earlier in the season. Clear improvements and developments have been made already as the scoreline finished at a much more respectable 7-2 loss. Keep up the hard work!

Sunday Matches

East London Mixed 2

In the first of two mixed matches, the Mixed 2s were defeated by a very strong and male-dominated Clapham Common Mixed 2s. It was a heroic effort from East who had mostly been out celebrating Halloween until the early hours of the morning. Final score 11-2 loss.

East London Mixed 1

With new recruits, the Mixed 1s looked hot to go on Sunday morning, despite some very late nights, also out celebrating Halloween. East dominated from the off and could have secured an even more impressive scoreline had they been able to secure all their chances. They settled for a strong 5-0 win over Waltham Forest Mixed 1s which is still pretty great for a Sunday morning!
